On Saturday, February 22nd, D.M. Sabia & Co., Inc. held it’s 24th Annual Safety Meeting. Breakfast and coffee were provided by Jack Francis Catering. Nick Sabia, President, began the meeting by thanking all employees for their hard work over the past year. He also mentioned that the outlook for 2020 is very positive so far.
Beth Semon gave a brief update on the I-9 Form changes that will be implemented in October 2020 including the mandatory use of the E-Verify system.
Open Tier Systems then gave a presentation on IT Safety, stressing the importance of using secure Wi-Fi networks when out in the field.
Mark Skuby from The Safegard Group gave an in-depth presentation of D.M. Sabia & Co., Inc’s safety performance for 2019. He reviewed injuries and how they can be avoided. He also provided the most recent OSHA updates. In a question and answer session with field employees, Mark also completed a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and an Incident Investigation Report.
Sharing his experience working in safety for over 30 years, guest speaker Patrick Karol gave a compelling presentation on Selling Safety to the Front-Line Employee.
In wrapping the meeting up, there were raffles of $500 for each month incident-free. A total of $2,500 were given out in raffles as well as five mini speakers. Lastly, each employee received a new Evolution 6100 hard hat.
This was one of the best Safety Meetings in company history and we look forward to getting better and better.
